Emblematic Poetry Description: An Emblematic Poem is one
that is in the shape of the
subject of the poem. It is also
called shaped poetry, figured
poetry, pattern poetry, and
calligramme.
It differs from concrete poetry
in that the poem should
be a readable text which is
not always true of concrete
poetry. (Although a concrete
poem may have a poetic text;
it is not required.) Early
examples of pattern poetry
include "Easter Wings" by
George Herbert (1593-1633)
and the typographic shape of
a mouse's tale in Lewis
Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
The Emblematic Poetry Society has a facebook page,
a Yahoo Group
and Quarterly Meetings.
QUARTERLY MEETINGS The Quarterly Meeting meet
on the 4th Sunday of the
month they fall on at 2:00PM
Meetings alternate between
The Village - 6115 Camp Bowie
Blvd.Fort Worth, TX. 76116 and
Patricia Ferguson's home.
The Meetings consist of
Buisness Meeting, a Program
and Awards from the previous
months emblematic poetry
promts.

Dues are $5 a year.
Dues will be due December 31 each year.

poems to North Texas Poetry
Workshop Yahoo! Group
Nov. 13, 2011 shortly after
Patricia Ferguson gave an
Emblematic Poetry workshop
for the Poets Of Tarrant County.
The First Quartly Meeting
was held Sunday, January 22,
2012 at the Village at Camp
Bowie Blvd in Fort Worth, TX.
